Crumpets

Ingredients to make 16 crumpets

  • 300ml full fat milk
  • 300ml water
  • 425g stong bread flour
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tsp active yeast
  • 2 tsp sugar

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients in the pan of the Panasonic Bread Oven keeping the salt and yeast apart.
  2. Use the Dough programme, on my oven it is 19 and takes 2h20.
  3. Use a flat pan of the sort used for cooking pancakes, lightly grease the rings and the pan, allow time for the pan and rings to warm over moderate heat.
  4. Pour the batter in the rings and cook until the crumpet is bubbling on top.
  5. Remove the rings and flip the crumpets.
  6. Allow to cool and can be stored in the fridge for a few days.
  7. Grill the crumpets and serve with lots of butter and home made strawberry jam.
