MethodMix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Crush the all bran in fine crumbs and mix with the dry ingredients. Add the lard and mix into bread crumbs. Add the cold milk and then the raisins ensuring that they are well distributed. Roll out to three quarter inch thick and then cut into rounds. Bake in a moderate oven 170C until cooked and brown. I notice this recipe is written in my mother's recipe book by me. My father liked the all bran scones as he needed to keep regular. My brother and I preferred fruit scones. |
