Ingredients

  • 225 g fine or medium oatmeal
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 90 ml water
  • a good pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp melted butter or vegetable oil

Method

  1. Put the oatmeal, salt and baking soda into a bowl.
  2. Make a well in the centre and pour in the melted butter or oil.
  3. Make a stiff paste with hot water.
  4. Knead and roll out as thinkly as possible.
  5. Cut into triangles and bake them on a griddle or in a moderately hot oven - 200 C until the ends curl up and the cakes are crisp.  20 -30 minutes.
