Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of hot water.
In a pan mix a little milk with the corn flour and gradually add the rest of the milk. Boil the milk until it thickens and then add the butter and sugar. Drizzle in the melted chocolate and stir until fully mixed.
If using cocoa mix this with the milk and corn flour.
A great favorite on camp with a plain sponge.

The following is an alternative "war time" chocolate sauce often made by my mother. As children we loved it.
Ingrdients
300 ml water
45 g Cocoa
1 heaped tsp Arrowroot
Method
Put all the ingredients in a pan and blend with a little cold water. Add the rest of the water and bring to the boil.
