Ingredients | ||
225g | Onions | |
2 cloves | Garlic | |
450g | Minced Beef | |
30g | Sultanas | |
2 level tsp | Demerara Sugar | |
1 tbs | Tomato Puree | |
115g | Streaky Bacon | |
1.5 tsp | Oil | |
450g | Baked Beans | |
1 | Bay Leaf | |
175ml | Beef Stock | |
2 level tbs | Chili Powder |
Method
Fry the finely chopped onions and then the shredded bacon. Remove from the pan and then fry the mince until browned.
Return the onions to the pan and add all other ingredients.
Cover the pan and cook for 1 hour.
Adjust the seasoning, salt and pepper and more chili if liked.
Serve with rice or over Jacket Potatoes.
Red Kidney Beans can be used instead of baked beans. After some time the baked beans tend to break down and produce a lovely thick sauce. The strength of the chili can be moderated by eating bread and butter.
