Method
- Weigh out the flour and icing sugar into a mixing bowl and mix well
- Add the butter and mix to form a breadcrumbs like consistency
- Add the yolk of the egg
- Add the water and mix at low speed until combined.
- If makeing a tart or sweet flan, grease the baking tray and ring.
- Roll out the pastry and ease into the ring.
- Place in a refrigerator for 20 minutes
- Prick the base with a fork, cover with foil and beans. No need to trim.
- Bake blind at 180C for 10 mins.
- Remove the foil and the beans and return the pastry to the oven for a further 10 minutes.
