Worm Buns

worm cake

Ingredients

  • 4oz of butter
  • 4oz self-raising flour
  • 4oz castor sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • cocoa
  • icing sugar
  • Gummi worms which I am reliably told you can buy them in sweet shops

Method

  1.  Warm the mixer bowl and beater thoroughly.
  2. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add the lightly beaten eggs a little at a time.
  3. At this stage I add a little flour to prevent curdling.
  4. Beat the mixture until it returns to being light and fluffy.
  5. Paste one rounded tbsp of cocoa  with 2 tbsp of boiling water and allow to cool before mixing into the cake mixture.
  6. Then fold in the flour.
  7. Place the cake mixture into 12 paper cake cases  and bake at 175C until golden brown and cooked.
  8. Usually around 15 minutes.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool on a wire rack.
  10. Make some chocolate icing with icing sugar and cocoa.
  11. Take a few cookies and crumb them in a polythene bag using a rolling pin and sprinkle the cookies on top of the iced buns.
  12. Cut the gummi worms in half and place half a worm on each cake.
  13. If you can resist allow the icing to set for 10 minutes and then enjoy.
